
GESU, a Northwest Detroit Green School, has been focused on eliminating waste from their cafeteria lunch program. After discovering that its cafeteria was producing 15 trash bags a day, students and school leaders decided to make a switch to stainless-steel reusable foodware.
Switch to Reusables Has Paid Off
By switching to reusable foodware and composting, the switch has already paid off. The school has saved hundreds of dollars in trash bags, waste hauling fees, and disposable plastic purchasing.
